Plant Operator
The task-focused course introduces learners to plant functionality and plant operations. What's learnt in class is applied in real-life activities giving learners valuable experience by practicing various procedures and ensuring they are competent operators. By studying plant operator, you will gain theoretical and technical knowledge on operation and control of earthmoving and lifting machines such as:
Characterized by having a blade between the front wheels and the rear wheels, a grader is used in road construction with its role majorly being to grade the surface to the desired limit. It is also used in ditch cutting. Its blade is efficient in that it is able to move in left, right, down, up, rotate 360° and move 90° to the horizontal to suit the position of the job.
The Backhoes' operation seems like a combination of a wheel loader as it sits on four wheels and an excavator making it quite convenient on its operation.
The Excavator is majorly used in excavation though it can be fitted with a drill therefore extending its use into being a driller.
A common machine on site, fofrklifts have a lifting capacity ranging from one to about ten tones. They are mostly used in lifting of containers in ports and in warehousing.
The wheel loader is an earthmoving machine that has a large bucket at the front of it which is mainly used to excavate loose materials and load vehicles. They are used mainly in quarries, construction companies and forest industries.
It is used to compact soil, gravel, concrete, or asphalt in the construction of roads. They are usually fitted with a power unit to drive the vibrating mechanism. The roller drum can be smooth, sheeps foot or grid design depending on the work at hand.

Plant Operator training takes a duration of 2 months. The training is offered on full time practical basis.
Applicants with no drivers license are required to undertake a one month driving course. Accomodation is provided for those interested.
